ODDALYS SALCIDO

embodying through media

Oddalys Salcido is an interdisciplinary choreographer and media artist artist born and raised on the internet. As a child, they felt cosmically connected with Selena Quintanilla and has been searching for that feeling in everything since. Their work slips between movement, technology, and critical theory. Rooted in dance and expanded through screendance, their practice explores how bodies especially those marked by queerness, racialization, and disabilities perform, transform, and exist. Through movement research, consumer technology play, and participatory frameworks, they resist the techno-utopianism often found in new media art by priortizing embodiment, access, and consent. Their best work is made in collaboration to collectively decentralize authorship, disrupt hierarchies, and build spaces where bodies can experiment, play, and exist expansively online, onscreen, and in motion. Their work invites urgent, joyful, and speculative play toward futures where bold emotionality and radical tenderness are not only possible, but necessary.
